Social networking site Facebook is well positioned to attract advertising, if it keeps up its massive user base spending time on the site, according to Ben Camm-Jones, news editor for Web User.
The IT industry expert said: "There was always going to be a time when growth in terms of membership numbers was going to peak in the UK - as long as it levels off rather than declines, Facebook will still continue to be a major player in the web."
His comments emerged as data compiled by Experian Hitwise revealed Facebook users are spending less time on the site. The figures also show that in the last six months the average time spent on the site has declined from just under 30 minutes to just over 27 minutes.
Mr Camm-Jones went on to say that Facebook has still greater capacity as an advertising platform compared to other rivals in the IT industry.
