Small companies can see the benefits of applying e-learning, according to David Patterson, project director of e-learning consultancy Learninglight.com.
"Once, e-learning was something for large companies with big training needs and budgets," he said. "That is no longer the case, with open source solutions such as Moodle, and more and more content becoming open. [With] the rise of YouTube as a learning resource - e-learning is now a realistic solution for many small and medium-sized businesses."
He went on to say flexibility for the learner and the company are the great appeal of e-learning.
His comments emerged as Learninglight.com recently calculated the return on investment of an e-learning programme for a large company and showed that the cost of learning delivery fell from £187 per day face to face, to £63 per day using e-learning.
