The level of security required can be tailored to meet the needs of the client, according to Paul Anderson, programme director for infrastructure outsourcing at Capgemini.
In a speech at a preview at the newly designed 30,000 square foot, Tier 3 'Merlin' data centre, the expert went on to say that the data centre had a suite of security features including 47 cameras, perimeter fence and biometric controls.
"The concept with security is that (...) the other elements go in at client level need. We can put blast proof-walls into the corner which is quite close to the road, if required by the client," Mr Anderson said.
In other IT industry news, Interxion, a leading European designer of data centres announced the opening of its sixth site in Frankfurt earlier this month. The firm announced that energy efficiency and security had been put first in the design.
