Consumers will see better deals and prices as a result of the opening of the BT superfast optic broadband network, according to Seamour Rathore, spokesperson for Broadbandchoices.co.uk.
"Consumers will benefit from different types of packages and prices as more companies start to use BT's fibre optic network. With more packages available, it will be easier for every household to find the right deal for them by comparing broadband deals," she said.
"The BT fibre optic network is absolutely vital for the nation's future," she added.
In related IT industry news, Ofcom has ordered BT to make its fibre lines available for use by other companies in line of fresh plans to promote competition and investment.
The watchdog's decisions are said to allow competitors to have access to a dedicated virtual link over new fibre lines laid by BT (known as virtual unbundling).
This will give other companies access to the lines to provide super-fast broadband services to their own customers, Ofcom have said.
