Cloud technologies present workers in Britain with flexible working opportunities, according to Ian Osborne, project director at Intellect.
Workers have had "a realisation" with respect to the cloud, he said.
"The rail strikes and snow [problems] over the year have given people the realisation that actually you can do a lot of what you do in the office at home, without the hassle of getting there and back," he said.
His comments emerged as research by Virgin Media Business showed there is a huge disconnect between employers and workers when it comes to cloud services in the workplace, with six in ten workers demandin access to cloud services while only one in ten companies currently deploy them.
According to the research, 6 in ten workers (1,000 surveyed) are demanding access to cloud services, but only one in ten companies are currently deploying them (from a separate survey of 5,000 business owners).
