Cloud computing "is the future" and would be of great benefit to small businesses, according to Clodagh Murphy, director at Eclipse.
"If small businesses embrace the likes of hosted exchange or hosted email then it can free up money in their business, as it is more cost effective and it also covers less scope," she said, addressing the benefits of the use of cloud computing.
She said that if companies saw the need to reduce their number of staffing levels for any reason, they can manage their costs much more effectively.
"In fact, enterprises can manage your cost base every single month. It's rentable on a monthly basis," she continued.
Separately, a widespread adoption of cloud computing could give the five major EU economies a €763 billion (£645 billion) boost over five years, according to a new report from the Centre for Economics and Business Research.
