IT industry news: Businesses 'to get new online fraud help'

Businesses in the UK will now be able to make use of a new authentication service provided by BT which will help them reduce the risk of online fraud and protect their clients' identities, the company said.

"Businesses and end-users are facing increasing attacks against online services, and the need for better security is vital," said Jeffrey Schmidt, Executive Global Head of Business Continuity, Security and Governance at BT Global Services.

"Whether it is protection from fraudsters or simply wanting to reassure consumers that their money or data is secure, many organisations are moving away from username and password, towards stronger methods of authentication," he added.

BT's new service provides the level of protection required and it also allows for a seamless path for roll-out, which removes complexity, cost, and time constraints from a critical deployment, the expert went on to say.

The company added that the service is scalable, user-friendly, rapidly deployable and can be updated to support future plans.
