Enterprises in the U.K. UK are increasingly using social networking sites like Facebook to serve their needs, according to Websense, which offers unified web, data and email content security to tens of thousands of enterprise, mid-market and small organisations around the world.
“If you step back [around] two years, the de facto standard was to block Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter" in the office setting, said Spencer Parker, group product manager at Websense. He said this was no longer the case for many businesses.
But Mr Parker said added that the uptake of such online sites has exposed companies to a new wave of security and malware threat.
He went on to say that in light of this managers should make sure their anti-malware protection inclused social networking sites.
"Brand protection is very key for big customers these days – they need to make sure their brand is not associated with malware attacks," Mr Parker explained.
