IT industry news: Broadband provision 'is an ongoing relationship'

07:26 21st September 2010

Providing broadband to customers should be seen as a relationship that needs to be developed over time, according to Simon Harper, marketing director at Eclipse Internet.

Broadband provision "should be seen as an ongoing relationship rather than just a simple product buy. It's actually a service that people are buying that goes up and down in terms of performance and what you need it for," said Mr Harper.

?IT industry developments have arguably helped provide better broadband services.

The expert went on to say that the onslaught of new IT industry developments could be intimidating to small businesses. He said small companies want to make sure that if they acquire the latest technology it is right for them so that they won't be left behind. However, he said, companies are not chasing the latest products just for the sake of it.

Separately, 62 per cent of consumers are unaware of how much bandwidth they are allocated, despite 82 per cent claiming to know what bandwidth is, according to a report from Eclipse.
