Small businesses and rural areas could see the real benefits of rolling broadband out across the UK, according to Clodagh Murphy, director of Eclipse Internet, which specialises in providing business solutions to small and medium enterprises.
"The question we should be asking is what the repercussions would be if we don't. Small businesses are the lifeblood of the UK and for the economy to grow we need to ensure that they have the tools to compete, regardless of their geographic location," she said.
She went on to say local councils, BT and the government working together to roll out superfast fibre broadband, with a focus on rural areas.
She highlighted the rollout in Cornwall as a good example that highlighted a combination of public and private funding which enabled the rural areas in Cornwall to benefit from faster speeds and the latest technology.
