European countries tackle cyber crime in varied ways with no unifying theme, according to cyber security agency ENISA.
"European countries are highly varied in how prepared they are for dealing with cybercrime, network attacks and network resilience," ENISA said in a press release following the publication of its updated edition of its “Country Reports” on network and information security (NIS) in the Member States and other European countries.
ENISA highlighted the key finding of the report: there is no pattern in the observed European countries with respect to the existence of a national NIS strategy. "However, many countries are enhancing their efforts and making progress in this area," the agency explained.
In other related IT industry news, a new UK organisation is set to tackle serious and organised crime, including cyber attacks, the Home Office said.
The new National Crime Agency (NCA) will also work to strengthen policing at the border and ensure proper local policing, the press release added.
