Having Twitter open up its European headquarters in the UK would boost the social media phenomenon's presence and would benefit everyone, according to Justin Cooke, chair of the British Interactive Media Association (BIMA).
"Having a base in the UK would seem to make perfect sense in helping them [Twitter] establish a stronghold into Europe and beyond," explained Justin Cooke, chair of BIMA.
The expert went on to say the arrival of Twitter would represent a "huge vote of confidence in our vision of making Britain the centre of the global digital economy".
"There is no better way for the UK to encourage home-grown talent in the social media sphere than by getting the stars of the industry like Twitter to make the UK their home," Mr Cooke added.
Mr Cooke's comments emerged as a report from the Daily Telegraph revealed that Prime Minister David Cameron and Mayor of London Boris Johnson recently made a personal plea to Twitter to choose London as the location for its European nest.
