The IT industry in the UK is still being undermined by a shortage of skilled workers, according to Richard Nott, director at specialist recruitment website CWJobs.co.uk.
"The UK is still very much an IT hub of the world and so there are a lot of IT jobs available in the UK – we just don't have enough people that have the right skill sets to fill the jobs that will come up," he said.
"There is very much still a shortage; we have the quality, but we need more of the same quality," he added.
The expert said this year was already experiencing a rise in demand for technology workers. But he said the set of skills available would find it hard to keep up with this trend.
His comments emerged as e-Skills UK predicted in a report earlier this month that the UK's IT & Telecoms sector would expand at 2.19 per cent annually over the next ten years.
