The IT industry has benefitted enormously from the government's continued commitment to building and refurbishing schools throughout England, it has been revealed.
Under the government's Building Schools for the Future initiative, every school in England is being rebuilt or refurbished and implementing new IT infrastructure has formed a major part of this programme.
Jesse Westgate, a public sector business development sales manager for IT organisation Misco, explained that the continued investment in the programme has had a huge benefit for the IT industry, giving companies access to a constant stream of projects despite the economic downturn.
IT training is becoming an increasingly important part of teaching and providing the facilities for teachers to develop the skills to pass onto youngsters is also important.
Earlier this year, a review of primary school education suggested IT training may be needed for teachers, as computer skills are now becoming as important for primary school children as basic skills such as reading and writing.
