IT competition given Facebook boost

13:23 16th September 2008

The IT Job Board has turned to Facebook in order to find the UK's best technical brain.

A new group has been launched on the social networking site by the IT recruitment firm, which it hopes will attract interest in its Great IT Challenge running at the end of September.

The competition, which has a prize of £250 for the winner and iTunes vouchers for runners up, will see competitors required to answer eight questions on a range of IT topics.

Aarti Gohil, marketing and communications executive at IT Job Board, said: "It is an opportunity to show off their knowledge and engage with like-minded people via a popular social network."

Last week, a survey conducted by careerbuilder.com revealed that one in five employers look at social networking information on potential applicants.
