IT firms are struggling with application performance management, according to new research.
In a survey of 100 IT decision-makers, commissioned by the database management provider Quest Software, the most troublesome application to manage was identified as Java and other sector specific applications - such as Microsoft.Net.
Conversely, the two simplest applications to manage were Oracle and SAP - which is the world's most popular business resource planner.
The research also highlighted that 66 per cent of organisations do not use third-part performance management tools.
A surprising one-in-five of respondents could not afford to run any application performance management tools, and a further 17 per cent did not realise that these tools exist.
Application performance management refers to the discipline within systems management that focus on monitoring and managing the performance and service of software applications.
