IBM has issued a major product release, unveiling over 30 new services and products along with a number of new research initiatives.
The multinational IT corporation revealed that one of its key research projects will be to update and archive data from legacy formats, such as the 5.25 inch floppy disk, in large cloud computing systems which can be remotely accessed.
In addition, IBM outlined its efforts in power and heat reduction, which is a field that the company sees major growth.
The list of new releases includes storage and network appliances, as well as support and services aimed at storage, data protection, information backup and regulatory compliance.
In August, the research firm Garter forecasted a growth in IT investment of nearly five per cent next year, despite the global economic downturn.
