Hull computer game programming course wins acclaim

09:27 12th February 2009

A computer game programming course run by the University of Hull has become the first of its kind to be awarded Skillset accreditation.

The university offers a Masters course in Computer Games Programming and has been running for over ten years now. Skillset is the recognised body ensuring that the creative industries in the UK are backed up by world-class training programmes.

Many leading computer game manufacturers have been pushing for courses like the one at Hull to be better recognised for the academic challenges they present to students.

Dr Jon Purdy, who runs the course at Hull, said: "The success of our graduates speaks volumes about the high calibre students we attract and the level of teaching we provide."

He added that the major manufacturers regularly visited the city to check out the talent owing to the course's worldwide reputation, and that a number of students were often recruited there and then.

In other news, the university may donate land worth £1 million for the development of a new health centre.
