Home cinema experience should be 'immersive'

A large number of home cinema owners are unaware of how to get the best out of their systems, according to Peter Aylett, director of professional development at CEDIA.

"Having a 32-inch TV with some randomly arranged speakers around a room, really is not a home cinema experience," he said.

According to Mr Aylett, some people are not even making use of the right equipment that will allow an "immersive" home movie to come across properly.

He said that there needs to be a source component such as a Blu-Ray player, a Sky HD system or a media server.

"That is then plugged into a processer. This box takes all of the inputs and processes the audio and video to the right places, through the right speakers and parts of the television," he added.

New figures from T-Mobile have revealed that most Brits are now opting for quality time indoors with friends and family rather than meeting them in bars and restaurants.
