Happy Computers wins Best Workplace award

16:44 1st June 2009

Technology company Happy Computers has won an accolade for Best Workplace in IT Services at Computer Weekly's Best Places to Work in IT awards.

The ceremony was held at London's Royal Lancaster Hotel and Happy Computers won the award on the basis of positive comments from 65 per cent of respondents who gave feedback on the business.

Henry Stewart, founder and chief executive of the company, said that happy and satisfied staff helped keep costs down as retention was massively improved and as a result of positive word-of mouth the company rarely has to spend money advertising vacancies when they come up.

Mr Stewart said: "We are delighted to be recognised again, especially as this award is based solely on the anonymous responses from our staff. It's their opinion that counts."

Providing good computer training resources could also help to keep staff content and less likely to look for work in other businesses.

In other training news, the government recently announced plans to only sell contracts to IT firms that promise to deliver training opportunities to their employees.
