HP will target the biggest spenders in IT after it completes its purchase of EDS later this month.
The information technology corporation, which reported revenues of £50 billion in 2007, is due to complete the £13.9 billion purchase of the technology systems firm EDS at the end of August.
This acquisition will mean that Hewlett-Packard will be the largest supplier of IT products and services to e UK public sector, with the company expecting to compete with BT and IBM for business.
Steve Gill, HP's UK managing director, explained that the firm will meet with 500 of the biggest global users of IT over the next year, with a list of 50 companies to target.
"No-one has the breadth of products we do," Gill added
Earlier this month, a survey conducted by the Association for Graduate recruiters revealed that the average starting salary for IT staff increased to £25,000 a year in 2007.
