IT hosting offers greater flexibility for women working in programming careers or other computer roles, according to ThinkGrid.
Women with children under the age of 18 will have the right to ask for more flexible working hours through the Equal Pay and Flexible Working Bill.
Rob Lovell, chief executive officer and co-founder of ThinkGrid, said that many firms lack the technical capacity for employees to work anywhere other than in the office, but IT hosting delivers greater flexibility to bring the office to the home if necessary.
Mr Lovell said: "That empowers people a little bit more to continue their career and continue to attribute to the business even though they are away from it the majority of the time."
He added that women on maternity leave or with young children are better able to continue developing an IT career if given this greater flexibility.
A Morse report recently found that half of UK businesses currently use virtualisation to reduce running costs.
