New graduates who have studied IT while at university may well still need to undertake IT training courses when they enter the world of work, it has been claimed.
IT professor and director of the Creighton University College of Business Ravi Nath told Computerworld that while IT training at college is useful, it cannot offer everything needed in the business world.
"Clearly, no university can be expected to train graduates in every conceivable IT tool, programming language or technology platform," he said. Instead, on the job training could be used to help develop necessary skills, he suggested.
Aside from offering IT training to new recruits, chief information officers (CIOs) in companies are continuing to invest in new technology to help them make business more efficient, the latest survey of CIOs from IBM found.
Further to this, CIOs are learning about new technologies that could help their businesses to grow in the future, the survey found.
