The British government should explore other mobile technologies when rolling out high-speed broadband, according to Michael Phillips, product director of Broadbandchoices.co.uk.
"There are mobile technologies which can deliver a broadband speed of up to 100MB and it is a case of the government looking at frequencies and what is possible in terms of approaching broadband in a different way," he said.
The rolling out of high-speed broadband is a topic that could be taught in IT courses.
Mr Phillips' comments emerged as a story published in the Guardian said that the government will hold a summit on Thursday July 15th to explore new forms of introducing high-speed internet access across the UK.
The summit will be aimed at companies and organisations which have skills, capabilities and assets that the government believes could be used to help deliver the Universal Service Commitment and superfast broadband market testing projects, the story said.
Mr Phillips went on to say that the authorities could help to implement newer, cheaper technologies and implement them on a larger scale.
