The global IT industry has a good opportunity during the recession to help develop new strategies and lead the recovery, it has been claimed.
Chip manufacturer Intel has claimed that people in IT jobs could form part of the solution to the current global economic downturn by developing innovative approaches to help businesses prosper and get the world's markets back on track.
Unveiling an upbeat assessment of the international marketplace, Intel vice president Gordon Graylish suggested the IT industry should see the current recession as an opportunity rather than a threat.
He also suggested businesses and governments need to invest in IT training so that they do not see IT jobs outsourced to more skilled professionals overseas, reports VNUnet.
"We need to invest to ensure that upcoming generations have the necessary skills," he explained.
The global economic downturn has resulted in job losses around the world, with the UK unemployment figure passing the two million mark earlier this year. Some experts have also predicted the figure will rise to more than three million by the end of 2009.
Meanwhile, Graham Arnold, centre manager for Construction Training London, said at a recent conference that times of recession tend to be when training opportunities experience a surge in popularity.
