Modern entertainment gadgets are keeping children amused for longer periods of time than traditional games during long car journeys, it has been reported.
According to PIXmania, a study of 28 families driving over 500 miles indicated that children got bored of games like eye spy and 20 questions within half an hour, while new devices such as portable DVD players and games machines held their attention.
The iPod and Sony PSP Go were ranked highest, keeping the interest of kids for up to three-and-a-half hours while on the move.
The Nintendo DSi XL took third place, while netbook computers took fourth place with an entertainment value of one hour and 20 minutes.
Commenting on the popularity of computing and IT, James Bradley, who took part in the survey, said: "Traditional games were great for getting all the family involved but they just didn't hold the children's attention for long.
"The traditional games often proved too hard for my toddler, whereas she'll sit and watch the right DVD for hours."
Individuals searching for IT jobs could be interested by the news, since it highlights the importance of the sector to UK consumers.
