IT professionals who have lost their jobs due to the turmoil in the City this week, should face little difficulty finding a new jobs if they have the right business and technical skills, a recruitment agency has claimed.
Project Partners, which specialises in providing technology staff for financial services, revealed that they had received a flurry of CVs from City IT staff, in the wake of the crisis at Lehman Brothers and declining confidence in the markets.
In addition, demand for IT experience of mergers or de-mergers in the financial services sector has also grown in recent months, as firms restructure in the downturn.
Simon Walker, managing director of Project Partners, said: "You will not be out of a job if you have the technical skills that enable financial services companies to gain a competitive edge.
Last week, new figures released by the European Information Technology Observatory revealed that global demand for IT is growing.
