Internet service provider (ISP) Orange has announced it will be providing a 20Mbps broadband service in a move which could aid computer training.
Initially only a select few will have access to the service Orange is offering through its unbundled network, which does not rely on BT infrastructure.
However, the ISP plans to expand the service which will be considerably faster than the average UK connection speed of 2Mbps.
Asif Aziz of Orange UK said: "This trial is an important step in enabling us to offer up to 20Mbps home broadband to consumers across our network."
The faster service could be helpful for people seeking computer training courses while it could also facilitate home learning for those looking to expand their skill set.
Firms are under pressure to provide widespread high-speed broadband in the UK partly to ensure Britain remains economically competitive in the global community.
The government recently announced plans to provide every home with a connection speed of at least 2Mbps within the next few years.
