EU IT pros run errands at work

The majority of European IT professionals do not believe performing personal tasks at work is a problem, a new survey has revealed.

The poll of technology staff, conducted by the online recruitment firm, The IT Job Board, discovered that nearly 80 per cent of those questioned spend half an hour a day surfing the net, while 75 per cent do not feel guilty about performing their own tasks at work.

In addition, a further 50 per cent of those surveyed, admitted to making personal phone calls from the office, while another 61 per cent confessed to sending non-work related emails.

Teresa Sperti, marketing manager at The IT Job Board, disclosed that the poll indicated that many respondents used work for personal errands as they felt underpaid.

She said: "The results highlight some interesting similarities as well as differences between the activities and opinions of IT professionals in different countries."

Last week, a survey conducted by Parity revealed that two-thirds of IT professionals are failing to take action in driving green IT schemes in their workplace.ADNFCR-1667-ID-18826855-ADNFCR
