Data security a 'trusted group', says IronKey

Secure storage solutions are essential for modern organisations, David Tripier, the chief marketing officer for USB-stick security company IronKey, has said.

According to Mr Tripier, data security within a company is "like a trusted group, a group of trust, it's so important to have a base that is an encrypted, highly secure, ruggedised platform."

He noted that one thing IronKey has found is that "PC ubiquity" - the ability to work across a number of different computer operating systems - is very significant to the functionality of secure storage solutions.

His comments came as the privacy commission of New Zealand released the latest NZ government policy on the use of portable storage devices (PSDs) such as USB sticks, smartphones and MP3 players within the workplace.

The report found that two-thirds of NZ's 42 government agencies now have acceptable controls on PSDs, compared with less than 50 per cent when polled a year earlier.
