People who have completed computer courses could find their skills are very much in demand from businesses that want their data kept secure.

Matthew Baxter-Reynolds, an independent software development consultant with AMX Mobile, noted that professionals in the IT sector will know how to encrypt data to make it secure.

"There's commercial software you can use - but effectively, what you need to do is get your IT partner to come in and make sure everything is encrypted," he explained.

"Laptops always have to be encrypted, as by their very nature, they leave the controlled domain of the business. [With] desktops and servers, you're really worried about burglary."

People who have undergone IT training will know that encryption does not affect performance, so PCs, laptops and USB sticks can all be safely encrypted.

"People lose their jobs if they lose information now," Mr Baxter-Reynolds added, so people in IT jobs could find their services are in demand from managers who need to ensure their business' data is kept out of the wrong hands.
