Decision-makers in the technology sector may start using new services in their data centres if the price for them is right.
That is according to a new report from data centre solutions provider Sentrum, which found that half of IT executives would consider emerging technologies to save money.
However, almost two-thirds (64 per cent) of those polled said that specialist knowledge and data centre expertise remains crucial when selecting an operator.
More than four in ten (47 per cent) of respondents also insisted they would only ever use 'best of breed' services.
"The research has identified varying opinions which suggest that the industry is perhaps more willing than ever before to investigate new technology options," explained Franek Sodzawiczny, co-founder of Sentrum.
He added, however, that "cost is just one element of any business decision and whilst it's important it's no longer the deciding factor".
"Companies today need to ensure that they have also found a business partner that can offer expertise and experience in order to help them remain effective in the long term," Mr Sodzawiczny concluded.
