The amount of consumers taking up internet packages which provide free laptops is expected to increase as Christmas approaches, according to an independent broadband comparison site.
Top 10 Broadband disclosed that the buyers are increasingly looking to high-speed internet deals, like those provided by 3 and Vodafone, which supply them with a free laptop and USB sticks when they sign up.
The comparison site also identified that parents of school and college students, particularly those studying IT, are especially taking advantage of these deals as a method of improving their children's academic development.
Jessica McArdle, spokesperson for Top 10 Broadband, said: "With broadband and free laptop deals starting at £25 a month, laptops have never been so affordable or attractive to a British public looking to curb their spending in the run up to credit crunch Christmas."
Last week, researchers from the University of California discovered that surfing the internet can increase the power of your brain.
