Confidence has returned to the global advertising industry continues as signs of growth and recovery are starting to emerge again in the market, new research has suggested
ZenithOptimedia, the media service agency, has upgraded its worldwide ad growth prediction from 0.9 per cent to 2.2 per cent. The group also said it expected the sector to continue its upward spiral for the next three years, predicting that online advertising's share of overall ad spend will increase from 12.6 per cent in 2009 to 17.1 per cent in 2012.
Jonathan Barnard, a spokesperson for ZenithOptimedia, said that confidence has been returning to the industry in the last few months as advertisers start to pick themselves following the dramatic slump in business volumes in 2009.
"There have been positive signs of growth within isolated pockets of the market and even of recovery, particularly in the Asia Pacific and South American regions," Mr Barnard said.
