Homeless people in Southampton could be set to benefit from IT training following the seizure of £180,000 worth of computer equipment by police.
Trading Standards in Southampton has donated much of its haul from a web-based operation caught supplying kits for downloading counterfeit computer games, the Daily Echo reports.
A large amount of the goods was presented to Jamie's Computers, a division of the city's largest homelessness charity, the Society of St James, by cabinet member for environment and transport councillor Matt Dean.
It is thought some of the software will be sold and the money will fund the training of socially excluded adults throughout Southampton, helping them build confidence and self-esteem.
Managing director of Jamie's Computers Trevor Pickup said the haul will help the charity keep going.
"We really do rely on the generosity of the public and we are very grateful to Southampton city council for donating this equipment to us," he told the publication.
