Businesses will use gadgets like Apple's new iPad to nurture collaborative work and not for individual communication, according to Stuart Miles, owner/editor of Pocket-lint.
"It's more likely to be used, not as a personal device, but as a device for presentations and a device for sharing content, information and data," Mr Miles said.
He went on to say that although devices like smartphones are "very individual", a tablet computer is seen more as a public tool that permits workers to embrace their job and involve other peers as well.
Mr Miles described the iPad and similar devices as ideal for giving presentations because staff can do all the work through finger swipes rather than having to use a traditional keyboard.
Separately, ABI Research said earlier last week that businesses adoption of ultra-mobile devices like netbooks, smartbooks and mobile internet devices, will reach $12.5 billion (£8.6 billion) by 2015.
