Cloud computing "changes the game" for the IT industry

14:05 19th October 2009

The IT industry is set to go through a remote working revolution thanks to the potential of cloud computing, it has been claimed.

David Pratt, chief operating officer of IT services from cloud computing provider ThinkGrid, has suggested that the technology can make a real difference to the IT industry by reducing management burdens, because applications and data are stored in the cloud.

"Cloud computing really changes the game when it comes to processes to support remote working," he said.

"Even in the event of total device failure, any other internet enabled device can be used to carry on working," Mr Pratt explained.

His comments follow the recent Hype Cycle Special Report for 2009 from analyst firm Gartner, which revealed cloud computing has seen an increased interest with enterprises seeking to use their IT in the most cost-effective way.
