Organisations should keep tabs on how applications running on cloud computing are used, a software expert has advised.
Alex Teh, the commercial director of information security firm Vigil Software, said that the emergence of cloud computing is important as it has many benefits for firms.
"It provides small organisations, or large organisations, with the ability to deliver applications without investing in the infrastructure required to do it," he explained.
However, Mr Teh pointed out that it can become "tricky" to keep track of who is accessing what applications and maintaining security around this.
"The auditing of what they're doing inside the cloud service is very, very important," he insisted.
"Reseller channel partners' and distributors' job is to provide the technology to aid that particular requirement."
Businesses could undertake IT training courses to equip their staff with skills required to keep a check on how cloud computing systems are being used.
