Those hunting for great Christmas gifts for IT fanatics should take heed of the advice offered by vnunet.com.
A top ten of Christmas presents any techie would love is compiled by Iain Thomson and Shaun Nichols on the website and at number one is the Apple iPod.
Apple shares and iPhone also feature in the top five while other gifts a computer nerd would die for include a Commodore 64, the Altair, LCD Monitor and Palm Pilot.
Iain Thomson writes on the website: "I held off on the iPod for many years. The headphones are rubbish, the batteries are suspect and you pay through the nose for the actual device. But then I was given one and I'm growing to love it."
He added that the interface was exemplary while the iPod itself is "a poem of metal and plastic" with flawless aural quality.
The Apple iPhone was launched in July 2008 and was named Time magazine's 2007 invention of the year.
