Chinese police shut down training website for hackers

Chinese police have closed the country's biggest cyber attack training website, state media has reported.

Black Hawk Safety Net, which is reported to have trained thousands of potential hackers and was providing hacker tools and trojan software to more than 180,000 members, was shut down in November, a month before the attacks on Google and 20 other websites.

According to the state-run Xinhua news agency, three people were arrested by police in Hubei province.

The country has repeatedly denied any state sponsorship of hacking and said cyber attacks are not tolerated by the authorities.

In other news, governments and multinational companies should step up their defences to prevent potential threats such as the recent Chinese attack on Google, according to the chief executive of McAfee.

"The Google attack was the most sophisticated we have ever seen with the most complex attack vectors targeting networks with commercial impact," David DeWalt was quoted as saying.
