Businesses in the UK should have an overall strategy when dealing with the use of phones in the work place, according to Peter Readman, director of ttMobiles.
"In fact ten per cent of companies have no idea who has overall responsibility for mobiles. You can end the fragmentation of phone types and tariffs by centralising responsibility for the procurement and management of all mobiles," he said.
Mr Readman went on to say that companies should build a culture where people are "conscious of unwarranted expenditure, and may even pick up on network billing errors that have slipped through".
He also said that 12 per cent of corporate mobiles are not in use and, additionally, up to four per cent of corporate mobiles are in the hands of ex-employees, so proper management of corporate phones is a priority.
His comments emerged as Vodafone said it wants to make the iPhone into a must-have device for businesses.
