A growing number of businesses are looking to unlock the potential of the IT industry to boost income and cut inefficiency over the coming year, it has been reported.
According to a survey carried out by industry analyst firm Gartner, 62 per cent of chief executives agree that changes to company IT will be key for their post-recession strategy.
Jim Elkin, a consultant at strategy consultants Analysys Mason, said businesses are beginning to look at ways to optimise their IT strategies.
"Any systems that provide an interface between the customer and business should be received, optimised and, if necessary, updated," he commented.
The result of the survey means there could be many more new employment opportunities developing in the IT sector over the coming months as companies look to those with IT careers to help them take advantage of improved trading conditions.
Earlier this year, a report from IT giant Microsoft suggested the IT industry would lead the global economic recovery over the next five years, creating thousands of new job opportunities in the sector all around the world.
