The development of mobile broadband devices has reached a point where the technology meets consumers' expectations, according to an expert website.
Edd Dawson, editor of broadband.co.uk, said internet access on mobile devices such as smart phones is now faster and easier to use, while the browsers available are fully functional.
Workers could choose to pursue IT training courses to learn how to use the range of technology now available on the market as many businesses now have mobile workforces, enabling greater flexibility for employees.
Mr Dawson said: "If I've got my iPhone with me it is much quicker to check a website on my phone than it is to go and get a laptop and boot it up."
More than ten million Britons now access the internet from a mobile device, according to research from the Nielsen Company, with usage rising by ten per cent between the second and third quarters of this year alone.
