A British firm is challenging the dominance of Amazon's e-reader - Kindle - as it launched its own version called Que at a gadgets fair in Las Vegas, a report has said.
The BBC's technology correspondent Rory Cellan-Jones said: "British users may be disappointed that this British company is yet to announce plans to bring this product to the UK."
The company has said the gadget, which has a black and white screen, is aimed at "mobile professionals", but it is more expensive than its rival the Kindle.
The Que's models are priced at £407 and £501 while the latest Kindle retails at £162 and £306.
In other news, those unaware of the real value of technology must be made aware of its benefits, according to BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT.
The BCS spokeswoman said the challenge for the IT community is to answer a key question - how do we get people savvier about the value and benefits of technology.
