Blended threats top the list of online security risks for enterprises, according to a market expert.
"Cybercriminals are increasingly using a whole range of attack methods blended together to steal valuable corporate data," said Devin Redmond, vice-president of product management at security firm Websense.
He added that security professionals should find new approaches to defend against these attacks, calling them to "inspect everything that goes in and out."
According to Redmond, blocking certain types of e-mails or collaboration channels, including social networking websites and cloud-based services, "is not a viable option."
In other news, governments and multinational companies should step up their defences to prevent potential threats such as the recent Chinese attack on Google, according to the chief executive of McAfee.
"The Google attack was the most sophisticated we have ever seen with the most complex attack vectors targeting networks with commercial impact," David DeWalt was quoted as saying.
