Businesses are losing billions of pounds because of failures in managing their telecoms services contracts, according to Hudson & Yorke.
"So much effort goes into signing the contract and when it is done there is a tendency to sit back and expect everything to happen, when it actually requires strong hands-on management," said Harry McDermott, who is chief executive at the firm.
His views emerged as a new report has revealed that four out five telecoms sourcing projects are inefficient.
The Forrester Research study, which surveyed 81 multinationals, also found that companies could cut telecoms costs by 20 per cent.
In other news, The use of indoor base stations, known as femtocells, is revolutionising the telecommunications industry, an expert has said.
Femtocells have been "causing a major stir in the telecoms industry as they represent a major new opportunity for economically delivering increased mobile broadband coverage and data speeds," according to Simon Saunders, chairman of the Femto Forum.
