The government has unveiled a new bill in Parliament that is aimed at boosting the number of people moving into apprenticeships after leaving school.
The apprenticeships, skills, children and learning bill will create an apprenticeships 'tsar' to oversee the development of the new scheme, which could result in as many as one in five young people will start an apprenticeship scheme in the next ten years.
It is hoped the move will increase the number of people leaving education with a skill that they can use directly in the workplace, as many traditional trades have suffered recently from a lack of qualified young people coming into their businesses.
Young people who are looking to get ahead in the jobs world could also take IT training and web design courses to boost their skill set and improve their chances of finding a career.
Last week, it was reported that many young people could suffer from depression during the recession because of the inability to find work.
