Financial service companies have been too slow to harness social media in their businesses, according to research from Datamonitor.

The research reveals that 50 per cent of UK citizens use online tools to make financial decisions.

Not only can social media be useful in building brand awareness, it also helps build consumer trust and brand loyalty, according to the study.

"The fact that 50 per cent of UK consumers are using online tools to make financial decisions indicates that banks need to start appreciating the power of sites such as Twitter and Facebook," said Anna Large, responsible for putting together the report.

The alternative browsers that will be offered to Windows users are Google Chrome, Firefox and Opera. ADNFCR-1667-ID-19635681-ADNFCR
