The British Computer Society (BCS) announced today that it will be taking over Activ Training Ltd.
The move is part of an initiative by BCS to expand the qualifications and accreditation services they offer and raise the profile of the organisation across the world.
Activ Training has enjoyed a close working relationship with BCS in recent years and Phil Jones, managing director of Activ, will continue in his role and will also join the BCS executive board of directors.
David Clarke, BCS chief executive, commented: "We are delighted to bring Activ Training Ltd's substantial capabilities into the growing BCS Group; this will allow us to develop our qualifications business in areas such as ISEB and Professional Examinations."
He added that the international reach of Activ will enable BCS to extend its influence to become a global IT advisory and accreditation body.
Former BCS president Professor Wendy Hall was awarded the title Dame in the New Year's honours list.
