IT training could become more important over the coming decade if the government is to attain its target of creating a low-carbon economy by 2020.
Providing today's workforce with the skills to implement new, environmentally-friendly technologies over the next ten years will be crucial to ensuring the UK can significantly cut its carbon emissions, but a new report has warned the government's current plans are inadequate.
According to a study undertaken by the Aldersgate Group, the government's current strategy to develop the skills needed to create a low-carbon economy are not sufficient and as a result new proposals should be introduced if the UK is to meet its pledge on cutting carbon.
New nuclear power facilities, offshore wind farms and even coal-fired power stations using carbon-capture technology are all being proposed by the government as important ways to clamp down on carbon emissions.
However, the government is also keen to encourage businesses to develop their own methods of being more environmentally-friendly.
